The Wedding Industry Experts released the results of their 2013 Best Wedding Videographer/Cinematographer contest Monday and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. JPod Productions was honored as the Best Boston Wedding Videographer, as well as the Best Massachusetts Wedding Videographer. In addition the the regional awards, JPod Productions was also honored as one of the top 5 wedding cinematographers in the United States (U.S.) for the second straight year. So what started as a competition to be the Best Cinematographer in Boston, turned in much bigger results.
After hundreds of votes towards the Best in Boston contest, we must thank our current and former couples, our family and our friends for supporting us in the endeavor. We were completely humbled by the outpouring of support for JPod Productions. We have always striven to be the Best Videographer in Boston and we will continue to push ourselves to become better each weekend and each year.

We were honored to have multiple opportunities to share our wedding expertise to different audiences in the month of February. First, I traveled to Western New England University to speak in former 22News Anchor Brenda Garton’s Advanced Broadcasting Class. The television broadcasting program at WNEU has been the training ground for two of our shooters and editors – Chris Morgan and Mia Major. It was fun to talk about my ten years in television and how I transferred the skills I learned at WWLP and WFSB into the Boston Wedding Video company, JPod Productions. Many of the storytelling lessons I learned in a decade of television shooting and reporting have translated well to the wedding industry and the students were intrigued to here the similarities.
Later in the month, I was approached by Rule Boston Camera to give a 2-hour presentation called a “Crash Course in Wedding Videography / Cinematography”. The presentation was part of Rule Boston’s weekly educational series called the Learning Lab. In this wedding videography presentation, I joined New England Professional Videographers Association (NPVA) President Bob Accettullo to speak about the fundamentals of shooting a wedding. A healthy crowd of wedding videographers and cinematographers, documentary filmmakers and professional photographers came to here many of the tricks that we use to get through a fast-paced wedding day. Many of the audience participants were curious how we shoot in numerous locations with different lighting situations, what cameras we use, how we collect our sound, how we stay unobtrusive throughout the day, and how we approach the editing process, as we turn our raw footage into Boston wedding videos. JPod Productions was honored to be one of five video production companies who won multiple awards at the annual VISTA awards of New England on February 25, 2013 in Dedham, MA. Even though we consider ourselves a Boston Wedding video company, JPod Production’s top award came in the “Other” category for our short film “Meet Hannah”, as it received the coveted Gold Award. This film captures an emotional journey that a family enjoys while welcoming a new baby girl into their lives. It is a feature piece on the family films section of our website and the short film can be seen HERE.
JPod Productions also took home a bronze award for the second straight year in the “Full Wedding” category, which is the category that showcases our feature films. The Boston wedding video “Lauren + Jay” was one of our favorite films of all-time as the couples personality was a fun one to tell. The ceremony took place in Littleton, MA with the reception at the Barn at Gibbett Hill in Groton, Massachusetts. In addition to personally written vows, the couple took their “golden eggs” with them throughout the wedding day. The end of the ceremony and post-ceremony section of the feature film are featured in the video clip below.
The VISTA awards are a New England-based competition run by the New England Professional Videographer’s Association (NPVA). The NPVA is an organization of not only Boston wedding videographers and corporate producers, but companies across New England who meet once a month to learn from regional and national speakers who specialize in the film making industry. Awards in the VISTA competition are presented in four categories including “Full Wedding”, “Wedding Highlight”, “Corporate”, and “Other”. The “Full Wedding” category is comprised of longer videos that creatively document a couple’s complete wedding day. The “Other” category is designed for videos that do not fit into the other three categories of the competition.

As a Boston wedding videographer, it is nice to receive a little publicity outside of the city. This week our Amy + Justin wedding video trailer from the Killington Grand Resort Hotel was featured on the Vermont Vows wedding blog. The Vermont Vows blog is run by WellWed magazine which has specific blogs for weddings in Vermont, Nantucket, Cape Cod and the Hamptons. The Green Mountain-themed wedding featured birch trees and limbs decorating the reception, tree-trunk table numbers, cute mason jars for the bridal bouquets and yellow shoes for the bride that really popped. Over the last few years, wedding videography has transformed into wedding cinematography and in the process, wedding cinematography has moved up the ladder on today’s bride’s vendor priority lists. This week, the Knot joined the growing list of wedding experts that is encouraging brdies to invest in a modern day wedding film. In their article, “Thinking of Cutting Video? Read this First.”, the Knot.com exposes many of the things that make today’s wedding films so valuable. In addition to the unobtrusiveness of today’s small DSLR cameras, the importance of audio, capturing all the moments between the photographs and cool trends like same day edits are making wedding cinematography a sought after commodity of the wedding day. To read all of author Justine Lorelle Blanchard’s supportive thoughts, click on the title of the article above.

Our wedding trailers have become more and more popular every year, as they are a great option for recently married couples to take an early glimpse into their wedding day. As Boston Wedding Videographers, we design these 90-second to 2-minute wedding films to be quick hitting features leaving couples excited for their full films. Listed below are five of our wedding trailers from this past year and we want you to vote for the one that you think is the best (Sorry, Anne + Anthony fans. As a filmmaker for JPod Productions, Anne is not eligible to win this contest). The winning couple/trailer will get a $250.00 gift certificate to the home store of the couple’s choice. Additionally, two voters will be chosen at random to win a $25 gift certificate to the store or restaurant of their choice. VOTING WILL END ON FRIDAY JANUARY 18TH at 5:00 PM. Our Winners will be announced on Monday, January 21st.
Vote up to four ways. Here’s how the voting will work:
—> On JPod Productions FACEBOOK page, ‘LIKE’ the Video you think is the best— ONE VOTE — CLICK HERE
—> Share your favorite trailer from the JPod Productions FACEBOOK page with a link to the contest — TWO VOTES — CLICK HERE
—> Pin the video on your PINTEREST Board — ONE VOTE — CLICK HERE
—> Comment on the video you like at the bottom of this blog post (I will approve comments shortly to avoid spam)— ONE VOTE
So, each person can vote four ways for their favorite video. Those four ways add up to a maximum of five votes. And finally, you may only vote once using each method. Therefore, commenting multiple times on a video will still only equate to one vote (but feel free to share the contest as often as you’d like
). The more you vote, the better chance you will have to win those two additional $25.00 gift certificates! And here are the entries:

The Western Massachusetts-based bi-monthly Journal Business West recognized JPod Productions for their recent selection as one of the top ten wedding videographers worldwide. JPod Productions, whose roots come from Western Mass., has become a top-rated Boston Wedding Videography and Vermont Wedding Videography company. But, owner and lead cinematographer Jamie Podworski called the award announcement “very humbling”. The top ten wedding videographer worldwide award, as well as top 5 in the United States honor were released by the Wedding Industry Experts in August of 2012. This is the second award for the Boston Wedding Videography company, as JPod Productions won the Bronze Award for Best Wedding Film at the Vista Awards put on by the New England Professional Videographer’s Association in February of 2012. We didn’t catch this when it was first posted, but it’s always nice to be respected within the wedding industry. We always strive to work seamlessly with the photography team so that both of us can produce the best products for our couples. It was kind of ironic that two vendors living in the same area from the I-91 corridor had never crossed paths, especially seems we both shoot our fair share of Vermont weddings. Here is Cronin Hill’s quick snippet of their experience with us:
“We had the pleasure of recently working with the team from JPod Productions. It wasn’t known until wedding day that we were both from Western Mass, and here we were shooting a wedding together in Killington, Vermont! From the moment we met Jamie and Mia, we knew it was going to be a great day! For us, communication between vendors is so important! We quickly chatted about how each team worked to achieve the best shots possible for our clients. Having two photographers and two videographers can sometimes be tough because each jockeys for position to get ‘their shot’. We can honestly say, there was none of that with this team
We all watched out for each other, got the shots we needed, and had a great time doing it! We hope to get the chance to work with Jamie and his team again. We highly recommend contacting JPod Productions for all your videography needs.”

The Wedding Industry Experts released the results of their 2012 Best Wedding Videographer contest last Friday and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. JPod Productions was honored as one of the top 10 wedding videographers Worldwide, as well as finishing in the top 5 for best videographers in the United States (U.S.). So what started as a competition to be the Best Videographer in Boston, turned in much bigger results.
After over 600 votes towards our Best Videographer in Boston contest, we must thank several of our dedicated brides whom pushed for our company on facebook and through emails. We were completely humbled by the outpouring of support that our former brides gave JPod Productions. Plus, I must thanks all of friends and family who support what we do too. JPod Productions has always striven to be the Best Videographer in Boston and we will continue to push ourselves to become better each weekend and each year!

Words cannot describe how much we loved it. You have an insanely talented ability to do the impossible: capture every important moment within a 12 hour period and create a perfect thirty minute memory that will last a lifetime. I now realize that the wedding video is the best investment of the entire day. You are without a doubt, the BEST videographer in New England. My advice to all your future customers – get the feature film!!! Thank you for creating something so special for Mike and I. We are lucky to know you.” – Stephanie Montessi”

It was the best investment we could have made for our wedding. You and your team are masterful and we will forever have these memories as our family grows. We have already watched the video a few times and I haven’t put my box of Kleenex down.
